Cardboard for a Cause- Artist Proof Preview
October 12, 2024 @ A-Mill Artist Lofts, Minneapolis, MN & Online
Cardboard for a Cause is a brand new event to be held October 12, 2024 at A-Mill Artist Lofts in Minneapolis, MN to benefit the Imaginative Realism Foundation. The foundation, created in 2019, seeks to increase access and equity to young artists and create in-roads to pathways into a professional life in the arts.
The event intends to raise $5,000 through tournament entry fees, silent auctions, prize drawings, and generous donations, among which includes an incredible assortment of rare and exciting painted artist proofs.
And they’re being previewed here exclusively on Snack Time on the Stack- let’s take a look:
Valkyrie Harbinger by Tran Nguyen
Tran Nguyen APs are a rarity, and only a handful exist. Her debut cards at Magic: The Gathering in Miniature II at Gallery Nucleus sold out in minutes. Here is another chance.
DOO-DL, Caricaturist by Ralph Horsley
No art-related event is complete without a caricaturist!
Baylen, the Haymaker by Ryan Pancoast
Spicy Bloomburrow Bunny from Pancoast? Say less.
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV by Matt Stewart & Rabbit Token by Gina Matarazzo

Fantasy art power couple Matt Stewart and Gina Matarazzo have each contributed a proof for this event; Matt’s work in miniature is instantly recognizable, and Gina, just making her Magic debut this year, has immediately found her stride.
Food Token by Chuck Lukacs
Om nom nom- you can never go wrong with a Lukacs painting, and this is one that’s easily playable as a token!
Nissa (on Virtue of Strength) by Danny Schwartz
Danny Schwartz is an artist to watch in APs right now, and this is his very first Planeswalker painting: he just gets better and better.
Songbird’s Blessing by Eelis Kyttanen & Novice Occultist by Zara Alfonso
Another Magic: The Gathering power couple lends their inkwork talents to Cardboard for a Cause; a landscape from Eelis on his Songbird’s Blessing, and a spooky Occultist from Zara on a card of the same name.
Oil Paintings by Jeremy Wilson
Master of negative space Jeremy Wilson has donated three of his oil-painted APs, including a reimaging of Rag Man, a study for his Bad Omens over, and his own take on Hellboy
Playsets by Allen Douglas

Allen Douglas has offered up playsets of blanks of a bunch of his new cards from recent Magic: The Gathering releases. His paintings are extremely hard to come by, but the first step is a blank, and there is no better opportunity than right here.
End Step
The APs will be auctioned on Facebook with no reserve, sold to the highest bidder and able to be shipped worldwide. For some of these artist’s, it’ll be the only chance remaining this year to own a piece of their work.
And even if APs aren’t your thing, there is a TON of other great happenings as a part of the event.
The in-person event will also include:
2-Headed Giant Team Draft Commander Main Event
A Magic: the Gathering art gallery
One Demand Drafts including Mystery Booster 2 and Chaos Rotisserie

Live Events with Quest for the Janklord, Vorthos Mike, Pighway and more!

And there are sure to be more surprises, bot live and online, along the way. Follow the Facebook event for more information, and keep a weather eye online for updates!
